Best Refrigerator, Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool ?

I want a new frig, with in the door water and ice dispenser that is around 18 or 19 cu. ft. ( 18 is probably what I’ll get because of lack of space to put a larger frig…………with top freezer, and it must be a stainless steel look. I have only found that Frigidaire makes a nice one like this. Frigidaire mini fridge not getting cold?

Posted by on 12 Mar 2011 | Tagged as: Frigidaire Freezer

I have a Frigidiare mini fridge (about 4.4 cu.ft.) that all of a sudden stopped getting cold. The outlet that I had plugged it into just before it went bad, I later discovered was reverse polarity. I’ve taken out the start device and overload protector and tested them with an ohm meter, and both seem to be in operable range…0 Ohms for the start device and 60 Ohms for the overload.

I had the fridge running while I was doing some drywall work, but I think that I was able to fully clean out the coils. If there is a hidden area where the coils are located (other than inside the freezer) information on that would be great!

I’m out of ideas….please help!!!

I just tested the thermostat, and it seems to be operating in the normal ranges as well…

any other ideas?

Would it be economical to move all items from my fridge/freezer compartment to my new, larger upright freezer?

Posted by on 26 Feb 2011 | Tagged as: Frigidaire Freezer

I bought a new Frigidaire upright , freezer, with the idea in mind to buy in bulk more, save money, and avoid so many trips to the store. I have no car, am very energy conscious, so I’d been walking to the store a lot, taking the bus, or borrowing my mom’s car for major trips. I got a good deal on this new freezer at a scratch & dent place, a 13.5 cu. ft. unit, that has an estimated operating energy cost of just over /yr. So far, we’re using only about a third of the freezer’s capacity (we’re a family of three), but I’ve only made one bulk shopping trip so far. We still have about that same amount of frozen food in our regular refrigerator-freezer compartment, just left in there what we already had. Would it make sense to just move all of that to the new freezer and turn the compartment off, or would that have an adverse effect on the fridge section? The new freezer is slightly less convenient to access, being in an unheated utility room through a door, down a step from our kitchen.

Where can I find an inexpensive mini fridge?

Posted by on 22 Jan 2011 | Tagged as: Cheap Freezers

I’m looking for a cheap 2-door mini fridge for my dorm room, meaning it includes both the regular refrigerator and a separate freezer. The rules say that it must be no larger than 5 cu ft, so I would like it to be as close to that as possible. Any help is appreciated.
I’ve tried most stores like sears, home depot, lowe’s etc; at this point I’m looking more for specific brands or models. Should almost definitely be new, and preferably under 0.

Freezer won’t stop running.Advice?

chevyrebel20_08 asked:

I have a Whirlpool 7.3 cubic foot chest freezer. It was around 9 months old when I got it from my aunt. I connected it up, let it get cold, and is 3 / 4 of the way full. Since I got my electric bill has risen to about $ 25 – $ 30 extra each month. I have done anything different in my use of electricity …, except to put in. I looked in the freezer and the manual says it is using KWT about 294 per year. That on average about $ 3-4 a month, not $ 30! Any advice on how to check and see if there are any problems with the freezer … which is in constant operation and will not start. Any advice, suggestions? PLZ! Oh, and was rejected on 2 1 / 2, so it is not high!
