mic510 16 Mar 2010 | : Frigidaire Freezer
Our stove went & we were going to just get a new range, but Best Buy has a 4 piece stainless steel look (silver mist) set (fridge, over the range microwave, gas range, & dishwasher) on sale right now…but the reviews I’ve seen for Frigidaire are overall not that great…we have a Frigidaire washer & a chest freezer by them that we have had no problems w/ whatsoever, but I’ve never dealt w/ their kitchen appliances.

We are trying to decide whether we should replace our chest freezer. It is a Frigidaire model MFC05MOBW4. On the plate it also says Amps 5.0 and 115V. Is there a way to figure out how much energy this model uses so I can compare it to new models?
Thanks.

I have frigidaire small chest type freezer, I have been looking everywhere for instructions on how to defrost…even the owners manual doesnt say how…anyone know how to do this
Our Haier chest freezer stopped working after I plugged another appliance into same circuit. Is there a part I could replace myself to get it running again?
Should have mentioned- it is not a circuit breaker, we are running a small air conditioner on that circuit now, and the freezer doesn’t work no matter where it is plugged in.

I’m looking into getting a freezer. However, I’m not sure which kind to get. The upright freezers seem better b/c you can see everything you have and can get to it easier. Is there any benefit to the chest kind of freezer? Thanks!

Frigidaire upright and chest freezers offer “out-of-the-white-box” thinking with innovative storage solutions like stormor slide-out baskets and lift-out door bins and glass shelves.

My compact portable outdoor chest freezer turns on (I can hear it when plugged in), gets mildly cool, but doesn’t reach anywhere near the temperature is should be reaching (even on the coldest setting).
Last summer the freezer worked like a charm (drinks were iced after a few hours). It’s an outdoor chest freezer, therefore I left it outdoors over the freezing winter in NJ (maybe my mistake). When I switched it on again this year (after about 8 months), it is “behaving” in the manner that I described above.
I am (obviously) out of warranty and the manufacturer doesn’t want to help me repair it.
The chest freezer is shown below:

Would appreciate if someone could please help me figure out what could be wrong with it. I don’t mind opening it up to check what’s wrong, but I just need to know what to look for and what to test.
Thanks!

I’ve looked everywhere, including on the freezer itself, and can’t figure out what country is was made in. It is the Kenmore 5 cubic ft chest freezer model 16512. Ten points to whoever can give me a solid answer.

I just bought a chest freezer to have more capacity for frozen foods that I can store more long term. Now that I’ve transferred my items from my refrigerator’s freezer to my chest freezer, nothing is left in the upright besides my ice trays. What do people use their regular freezer for if they have this other option?
